I've just realised that I'm ageist

I'm sitting here watching the Isle Of Wight festival on Channel 4 and the Rolling Stones have come on stage, they still have it, they sound good and far better than most of the younger bands you will hear today. Yet I look at their faces and I can't stop myself from thinking about when they might retire. It's wrong and I'm not proud of myself for thinking it but damn they're old!
I always thought I was a believer in equal opportunities for all and yet here i'm thinking - 'go out gracefully!'
Of course maybe it's just because it the Rolling Stones, even when they were young they were scary, although I'm sure back then the drummer looked like he had teeth that wasn't left behind in a jar in the hotel.

They are old. And Mick wears pants that are creepy on someone his age. Like a granny should not wear a mini skirt he should not wear such tight pants.

*shudder*

It's just a reality!

Yeah that might well be what it was, its a bit like the men in stretchy spandex swimsuits look, it just should not be done.

Hellooo trying to catch up on my commenting (been too busy snogging heehee and at my age have to take the opportunity when it arises)
Your new place looks bloody amazing, I would've struggled to contain the expletives too!
Snow patrol guys shared a flat with a friend of mine in their uni days so although more mainstream I'm glad they made it after all this time and Franz Ferdinand are the dogs.As for the Stones I reckon it's retirement time, only thing is every time I mention this around my Dad I get an earful as he's 60 plays electric guitar and still does gigs around Edinburgh oops

I don't agree...I think Mick is sexy...and sexy trumps old\ugly EVERY time!!!

I saw the Stones in concert for the first time Oct. 2006...they came and spent the weekend here in my city and played 2 different concerts. Infact, they broke a record for Canada that weekend as the highest grossing concerts ever...and my city has under 200 000 people....not bad!!

I saw an old couple snogging in the street the other day. It made me feel quite ill. Then on the way to work this morning I saw teenagers snogging at the bus stop and thought it was so cute. I am ashamed but old people snogging is gross. *yikes*

Phoenix - Have fun but remember and check in future to see if he has KTD's (Kissing Transmitted Diseases).
As for musicians and retirement I think I might just be prejudiced against the Stones, from watching the drummer with the sunken face who didn't look like he wanted to be there, to Keith - well what can you say about Keith and Mick acting like he was 19 without being anything close, the whole look was somehow wrong. But then again maybe in places like Canada when you have lots of people in front of you and can't see the band up close its fine, they after all still do sound good.

Nicole: Mick? Sexy? That is just one reason I'll never understand inner workings of the female brain.

Drama Queen: The time to stop staring at the old couple and give them a moment of privacy is when they look like they are going to take their teeth out. Everyone is entitled to a moment of intimacy, even you auntie. Dammit I don't think I'll be getting any free art work after that.

I only said it was difficult, I never said I couldn't do it. Is it worth the effort, there has to be some fun in life :)
